Prokazyme is proud to announce that our high novelty product ThermoPhage® ssDNA ligase has been acquired by Epicentre Biotechnologies in Madison, WI, USA. The enzyme was discovered and developed by Prokaria and has unique efficiency in ligating end-to-end linear RNA and ssDNA fragments as well as being unique in circularizing ssDNA with very high efficiency Therefore from now on the enzyme will be excusively sold by Epicentre Biotechnologies. We advise our customers to turn to Epicentre Biotechnologies, or its distributors and ask about CircLigase™ ssDNA ligase.Prokazyme is the exclusive agent for selling and distributing all DNA enzymes and industrial enzymes developed by Prokaria Ltd. Prokara was established in 1998 based on the research of its key-founder, Jakob K. Kristjansson at the University of Iceland and Technological Institute of Iceland, dating back to 1982. Prokaria was run successfully as an independent company for 8 years with average staff number of about 20 people. In 2006 the main activities of Prokaria were sold and merged with the Icelandic food research and development company Matis Ltd. The previous owners formed the venture capital company Arkea Ltd and established Prokazyme around intellectual property in the DNA enzyme field. Arkea has now joined forces with Matis in efforts to take the vast bank of unique enzymes that have been developed from thermophilic bacteria and viruses by the scientists at Prokaria and make them commercially available through this Prokazyme webstore. Currently, the products available include well known and unique Thermophage® single stranded DNA ligase and other DNA enzymes as well as few novel industrial enzymes. The selection will be greatly expanded and several new products will be added to the Prokazyme webstore. In collaboration with Matis-Prokaria, it is our intention at Prokazyme to continue the discovery and development of novel enzymes from extremophiles. We will have particular emphasis on thermophilic bacteriophages that are known to be a rich source of novel nucleic acid processing enzymes.Matis-Prokaria continues to be a world leader in bio-prospecting and discovery of new thermophilic enzymes from Iceland’s rich geothermal ecosystems. Its reputation in the field is unmatched as seen by steady flow of new and extended contracts with several world leading industrial companies. Prokazyme will continue to promote Matis-Prokaria as your partner of choice for any extremophile R&D projects that you may wish to develop. |
